Majority of Kroger Customers Want an End to Open Carry
After more than 300,000 petition signatures and nearly 13,000 phone calls demanding that the nation’s largest supermarket chain stop allowing the open carry of guns in its stores, a new poll conducted by Benenson Strategy Group released today shows 64 percent of Kroger shoppers polled believe people should not be able to openly carry guns in Kroger stores.
Despite this opposition to Kroger’s policy allowing open carry of firearms — and even though a majority of states allow people to openly carry firearms without a background check, training or permit — Kroger so far has sided with a small group of gun extremists and refused to change its policy.
While Kroger has not yet changed its open carry policy, in recent weeks, New Seasons Market, a chain of more than a dozen grocery stores located in Oregon and Washington, and Panera Bread recently joined other major brands, including Target, Starbucks, Chipotle, Sonic, Jack in the Box, and Chili’s, in asking guests to leave their firearms at home.
Kroger claims to be a ‘Family of Stores,’ so where are their family values?
When will Kroger get serious about the health and safety of their customers and employees?
Tell Kroger: #GroceriesNotGuns
A grocery store is one of the last places we should expect to see someone openly carrying a loaded weapon. But Kroger, the largest grocery chain in the country, has policies that allow customers to openly carry guns in its stores – where families shop every day.
Most states have weak gun laws that let people openly carry guns even if they haven’t had a background check or training. Private businesses like Kroger have the responsibility to protect their customers when the law won’t.
Don’t let gun extremists force Safeway to back down
Attention Gun Sense Shoppers! Safeway – one of the country’s largest grocery chains – is asking shoppers to leave their guns at home. This important policy means they’ve created a safe shopping experience that we should all keep in mind when it comes to stocking up.
But now gun extremists are attacking the supermarket chain – all because of this common-sense policy.
Use this tool to automatically send a thank-you message to Safeway’s CEO for taking this important stand despite fierce opposition. The more of us who speak out, the more we’ll drown out the extremists coming after Safeway.

“If Kroger doesn’t know it already, they will know it very soon: We are in this for the long run, and in the long run we will win.” - Shannon Watts
One man is here to open carry, the other to open fire.
How does she know which is which?
This is ridiculous
This weekend, let’s show Kroger that we mean business by doing our grocery shopping elsewhere.
Don’t have Kroger in your state? Skip these Kroger-owned brands:
Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Food4Less, Foods Co, Fred Meyer, Fry’s Food Stores, Gerbes, Harris Teeter, Jay C Food Stores, King Soopers, Owen’s, Pay Less Super Markets, QFC, Ralphs, Smith’s Food & Drug
So Kroger grocery stores allow people to carry loaded guns–but shirtless shoppers, outside food and skateboards aren’t allowed?
The Texas Legislature just cleared residents to legally carry guns on school campuses, and it’s readying legislation to legalize open carry everywhere in the state. But the pace of its reforms is tyrannically slow, according to longtime gun activist Kory Watkins, and in a new video, he says if lawmakers don’t speed up, they may face death.
Saturday is the first day of National Gun Violence Survivors Week – when we ask everyone to shine a spotlight on the stories of Americans who have had loved ones taken by gun violence, who have been wounded or threatened with a gun, or witnessed a shooting.
We’ll be sharing the stories of survivors and statistics that highlight the impact of gun violence.
