I don’t think they are really disputed by the general public, but by a loud vocal minority spreading fear and misinformation about what gun violence prevention really is. We’re talking about preventing gun violence, not controlling anyone’s right to own a gun.

Gun violence can happen anywhere. It affects all Americans whether they be white or black. Gun violence is so pervasive, there is no safe place or safe space. The best we can do is be mindful to not place ourselves in positions where we are more likely to be unjustifiably hurt or gunned down.

This topic is most important to me right now as far as the safety of my kids is concerned because I cannot sit back and watch another child get killed from senseless gun use and storage. There’s no one solution to ending gun violence. But background checks are a strong deterrent to keeping guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and convicted felons and the dangerously mentally ill. #AnswerTime
