Everytown is a movement of Americans working together to end gun violence and build safer communities.
😱🚨ACTION ALERT: Text OMG to 644-33 to call Secretary Pompeo and tell him to STOP Trump’s @statedept from allowing a company to post its gun blueprints online in files that can be sent directly to a 3D printer to print guns on demand. These files would enable anyone to print a gun at home, no background check necessary.
More than 90 Americans are shot and killed every day from preventable acts of gun violence. Downloadable guns are the last thing we need. Call now! #StopDownloadableGuns
This isn’t an episode of Black Mirror; this is really happening, and we need to stop it.⠀ ⠀ In a few days, anyone with a regular internet connection and a 3D printer will be able to make their own untraceable guns in just a couple clicks. We only have until Friday to stop this.⠀ ⠀ Send Secretary Pompeo a message here to #StopDownloadableGuns. @statedept
ACTION NEEDED: A few days from now, *anyone* with a regular internet connection and a 3D printer will be able to make their own untraceable guns in just a couple clicks. This includes terrorists and people who can’t pass a background check.
Incomprehensibly, the Trump State Department is about to allow a company run by a self-proclaimed anarchist to post its gun blueprints online in files that can be sent directly to a 3D printer to print guns on demand.
To add more danger to this situation, many of these guns can be printed entirely in plastic, so metal detectors won’t catch them. These plastic guns could easily be snuck onto airplanes, into music festivals and government buildings.
3D printed guns will also undermine the work of law enforcement, who may recover untraceable guns at crime scenes and find their criminal investigations stymied before they even get off the ground.
Downloadable guns completely undermine our federal and state firearm laws, which at their core block gun access for the people who pose the most serious danger to the public.
ACTION ALERT: Click here and tell your rep to co-sponsor & pass #HR6649, legislation to block the online distribution of ALL downloadable gun files that would enable anyone to 3D print guns in their own home. #StopDownloadableGuns
Americans across parties agree: we must #StopDownloadableGuns.
Send Secretary Pompeo a message and tell him that the State Department should not enable criminals and terrorists to 3D-print untraceable guns in their own homes: everytown.org/3D
These are just some of the guns in the virtual arsenal of weapons that will be available for anyone to download if Trump’s @statedept doesn’t reverse course TODAY.
Once these files go live on the internet, ANYONE — including violent criminals who can’t pass background checks — will be able to download and create weapons of war.
Call Secretary Pompeo today and tell him to #StopDownloadableGuns: Text OMG to 644-33 and we’ll connect you.
Saturday is the first day of National Gun Violence Survivors Week – when we ask everyone to shine a spotlight on the stories of Americans who have had loved ones taken by gun violence, who have been wounded or threatened with a gun, or witnessed a shooting.
We’ll be sharing the stories of survivors and statistics that highlight the impact of gun violence.
