Majority of Texas voters oppose campus carry
A survey commissioned by Everytown for Gun Safety says 63 percent of respondents don’t think college students should be allowed to carry concealed handguns on campus. A greater number of those polled opposed concealed handguns in classrooms or dorms.

NEW: Click here to read our new analysis of mass shootings, showing that in the decade between 2009 and 2018, there were a total of 194 mass shootings, which left 1,121 people dead and an additional 836 people wounded.
The analysis also includes a new mass shooting map with downloadable data from 2009 to the present. Everytown defines a mass shooting as a shooting in which four people are fatally shot, not including the shooter.
Other findings include:
- 54% of mass shootings over the past decade were perpetrated by someone who displayed prior warning signs
- Domestic violence is a part of over half of mass shootings
- 1 in 3 shooters were legally prohibited from possessing firearms
Our peer high-income nations all have video games, internet access and rates of mental illness on par with the U.S. What they don’t have is easy access to firearms. The clear trends in these statistics underscore that strengthening our gun laws can help prevent gun violence.

Representative Sharice Davids was endorsed by Everytown in the midterms and has worked to pass common-sense gun safety laws in Congress. Her historic victory made her one of the first of two Native American women elected to Congress and the first openly LGBTQ representative of Kansas.
Since being sworn in, Rep. Davids has already shown up for the gun safety movement by voting YES on #HR8, the legislation to require background checks on all gun sales and has met with Moms Demand Action volunteers to talk about her dedication to addressing gun violence in the U.S., which she calls a “public health crisis.”
Last week we gathered with survivors of gun violence to launch the #NotOneMore leather bracelet.
